The lecture is cancelled.
We invite you to take part in a lecture by Dr. Pierre Karrasch from TU Dresden on "Citizen Science". The lecture will be held on Wednesday, 11.03.2020 r., room IIM, Wroclaw Univ. of Environmental and Life Sciences, 24 Grunwaldzki Sq., 10:15-12:00.
Scientific work is strictly based on the rules of good scientific practice. However, it is also one of the tasks of science to inform citizens about its findings, or even to involve them in these scientific processes. The latter happens under the term "Citizen Science". The lecture should give an overview of what Citizen Science is, which principles it follows and which methods of Citizen Science can be used. Furthermore, selected examples will be used to show in which different domains Citizen Science is used. Using the example of monitoring in the environmental sector, it will be shown how a Citizen Science project can be organised. The lecture will conclude with examples of Citizen Science projects as they have been carried out in the past years organized by the chair of Geoinformatics, TU Dresden
