Satellite orbit and clock information and their applications
Dr Tzu-Pang Tseng, Department of Geomatics, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan
Abstrakt:
Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) has been widely used for applications of positioning, navigation and timing (PNT). Two major GNSS products essential for the PNT applications are the satellite orbit and clock. The satellite orbit product results from the solution of the equation of satellite motion, where lots of force models are taken into account. The GNSS clock product is generated by using the undifferenced GNSS observations, in which the satellite orbit is fixed and is thus dominated by the quality of the satellite orbit. The GNSS orbit and clock solutions are mainly applied to obtain both geospatial and timing information of objects either in a static mode or a kinematic mode. In addition, such GNSS orbits and clocks also can be applied to the following sectors: 1) the accuracy improvement of both orbit and clock of the LEO (low earth orbit) satellites, 2) the atmospheric remote sensing, 3) real-time disaster monitoring (i.e., landslides and surface deformation), and 4) SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System).
