Prezentację zatytułowaną "Space partitioning as the basis for geometric modeling in architecture, engineering and construction" przedstawi Prof. Wolfgang Huhnt z Uniwersytetu Technicznego w Berlinie.

Abstrakt wystąpienia:
Geometric modelling is a fundamental tool in all branches of engineering and science. The presentation scrutinizes the present mode of geometric modeling in architecture, engineering and construction which focuses on components and enables users to create a model by a stepwise specification of the geometry of these components. Space partitioning is an alternative approach. At TU Berlin, research is conducted which investigates space partitioning approaches in architecture, engineering and construction. The research addresses both, the embedment of existing geometric models of buildings in a space partition and the design of a geometric model based on a space partitioning approach from scratch. The presentation shows results in both fields and illustrates benefits. Space partitioning is already applied to selected fields in geoinformatics. The presentation ends with a discussion whether space partitioning approaches can form the basis for significant progress in integrating CAD, BIM and GIS.
